The Crossroads Art Center has exhibitions in several off-site locations. These shows are usually changed out each month depending on location specifics.

If you would like Crossroads to schedule a show in your establishment, please call the art center at 804-278-8950 and ask to speak with the Exhibitions Coordinator.

Crossroads Art Center is excited to congratulate Martin McFadden, LRPS for his recent achievements as a fine art photographer. Two of Martin's prints were selected for The 2008 Harnett Biennial of American Prints organized by the University of Richmond Musuems and juried by master printer James Stroud. Martin's were the only photographs and he is the only Virginia artist chosen for this national exhibition.

The exhibition runs through June 6th at the Joel and Lila Harnett Museum of Art.

Our hats are off to you Martin!

"These two images are from a recent body of work Crossing the River: Manchester Before the Reform. I had the distinct pleasure of speaking personally with Mr. Stroud regarding the exhibition and his selections. He commented that after seeing my work, he plans to give more consideration to photography in the future.

To share a phrase from a dear colleague (thanks PD), it is always rewarding when someone "gets it" when they see your work. I firmly believe that I made that connection with the juror, after our conversation, and feel quite honored to be in the exhibition."
--Martin McFadden, LRPS

About the Exhibition
Organized by the University of Richmond Museums, The 2008 Harnett Biennial of American Prints is a celebration of contemporary printmaking by artists throughout the United States. Juror James Stroud, artist and master printer and the founder and director of Center Street Studio in Milton, Massachusetts, selected forty-seven prints by thirty-two artists from twenty-two states from entries submitted by 284 artists.

Among Stoud's comments: "... the theme that emerged the strongest out of the group presented to me, and was most compelling given my own interests, was one that included structure, system, process, and pattern as predominant means to pursue the artists' ideas . . . I was pleased and fascinated to see in the submissions so much expertise shown in all the traditional printmaking media as well as the integration of new media."
