Barbara Byrd became interested in art as a small child painting by numbers. As an adult, she trained formally with renowned Caroline County artist Sidney E. King, who helped her develop her technique with oils. She has enjoyed working with pastels, watercolorsm and oils, but oil is her preferred medium, and she feels it is where her art becomes alive. Her paintings showcase scenic Virginia, wildlife, still life, flora and fauna, and world travels. She expresses life experiences through color, light, shape, and memories. She currently focuses on light and shadows, working in an impressionist style. Barbara is associated with Libertytown Arts Workshop in Fredericksburg, Virginia, as well as Crossroads Art Center in Richmond, Virginia.
