Calling Artists! Submit Artwork to the November All-Media Show!

NOVEMBER 2020 ALL-MEDIA SHOW

Crossroads’s all-media shows are open to mid-Atlantic artists through a bimonthly Call for Entries, and cash prizes are awarded for the winners. Each show is juried by a prominent arts professional from the community (a gallery director, curator, museum official, arts professor, or accomplished artist). Cash awards are given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

All work submitted must be for sale. Entry fee is $12 per submission for the general public and $9 per submission for Crossroads Gallery Members. Gallery Members receive a fourth entry for freeIf an artist is not a gallery member and wishes to participate, he or she may join at the time of entry.   3. Artists Notified: Monday, November 2, 2020
  4. Artwork Drop Off: Thursday, November 12 – Saturday, November 14, 2020 by Noon.
  5. Exhibition Hung: Sunday, November 15, 2020
  6. Exhibition Opening: Friday, November 20, 2020 from 6-9pm
  7. Exhibition End Date: Wednesday, December 30, 2020 
  8. Artwork Available for Artists to Pick Up: Monday, January 4, 2021

About the Juror: Francis Thompson, Art Program Manager at JLL

Juror: Francis Thompson is the Art Program Project Manager at JLL. Over the past decade, he has managed a team responsible for maintaining and expanding a contemporary corporate art collection installed within office buildings throughout North America. During the early part of his role with the collection, he led the curatorial development of its rotating exhibition program which has grown to between seventy and eighty shows a year. On display within the corporate offices, these exhibitions brought in artwork from non-profit art organizations, local museums, university art departments, and corporate employees.

Francis has worked as Assistant Gallery Director for the Ellipse Art Center in Arlington, VA, assistant coordinator for the Mountain Lake Workshops with director/producer Ray Kass, and as Gallery Coordinator for the Virginia Tech Armory Gallery. A native of Virginia, he holds a Master of Fine Arts in Arts Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with concentration in painting and drawing from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia.

1. First Click on the PDF Form Above 2020 Juried All-Media Show Agreement (pdf) then click the download button (top right down arrow) and download and then save it to your computer/tablet using your name in the file.

2. Open up the document on your computer/tablet from that saved folder and fill it out.

3. Go to top left side of computer and go to File Save. Save the completed pdf in the same folder you downloaded the original pdf too.  It will ask you to replace the file -- say YES! 

4. Email completed pdf form to cacamsentries@gmail.com

Trying to fill out the PDF directly on the webpage link will not save your changes.

FAQ

What type of art is accepted? Any medium is accepted. No reproductions or giclée prints will be considered.

How many pieces can be submitted? Up to three works of art can be submitted. Gallery Members receive a third entry for free and can submit four.

How will the digital images be used? Digital images of accepted artwork will be used for the online exhibition on Crossroads Art Center’s website for artwork to be directly purchased online and for promotional materials for the exhibition.

Does artwork need to be framed? If artwork is on a gallery wrapped canvas, you do not need to have it framed. Framed artwork should be properly wired to hang, saw tooth hangers are not accepted.

Only artists whose artwork has been accepted to hang in the exhibition will deliver the physical artwork to Crossroads Art Center on Thursday, September 10 – 11, 2020 from 10:00am – 3:30pm or Saturday, September 12, 2020 from 10:00am – Noon. 

 

How To Submit

2. Prepare digital images for submission.

All artwork for the All-Media Show will be juried by submitted hi-resolution digital images. Before submitting, make sure images meet the below specifications:

  • Images are in JPEG or PNG format.
  • Images are saved at maximum quality level with a resolution of 300 dpi with the longest dimension being no more than 6 inches.
  • Images are clear, in focus, and correctly cropped.
  • Images are NOT watermarked.
  • Images should be properly labeled.
  • Correct number of images submitted per piece.

 

Labeling Your Images

To Label Images: From a desktop computer double click the name of the image you want to edit, rename the file and press enter to save changes.

For unframed artwork (i.e. canvas and photography printed on metal, etc.), submit two images per piece. Images should be labeled accordingly:

  • Artist Name_Title_Size_Medium_Price_CROP
  • Artist Name_Title_Size_Medium_Price_DETAIL

For framed artwork, submit three images per piece. One showcasing the framing display of the art. Images should be labeled accordingly:

  • Artist Name_Title_Size_Medium_Price_CROP
  • Artist Name_Title_Size_Mediun_Price_FRAME
  • Artist Name_Title_Size_Medium_Price_DETAIL

For 3-dimensional artwork, submit up to three images per piece. Images should be labeled accordingly:

  • Artist Name_Title_Size_Medium_Price_FRONT
  • Artist Name_Title_Size_Mediun_Price_REAR
  • Artist Name_Title_Size_Medium_Price_DETAIL

3. Email completed PDF Application and digital images as attachments to the following address: cacamsentries@gmail.com.

5. Look for a submission confirmation email in your inbox within 3 business days.

6. All submitting artists will be notified of jury results on Monday, August 31, 2020 via email.
