Building large sculpture is exciting. The amount of detail that can happen around the eyes and facial structure is freeing. The sgraffito patterns are inspired by nature and textiles.

Artist's Statement:

I recently moved from western VA to Powhatan where I am settling in with my dog, cat, chickens, and am getting my ceramic studio set up. I am self-taught and many of my ideas are inspired by local domestic and wild animals, whimsical expressions of beasts, as well as my love of traditional stringband music. My large animal sgraffito work uses patterns found in textiles and nature.
