Ceramic Show “Nature & Coalescence” Exhibition
March 2024 Call for Entries Ceramic Show Nature & Coalescence
Crossroads Art Center is excited to announce an online call for entries for the Ceramic Show “Nature & Coalescence” Exhibition
The show will be part of NCECA’s 58th Annual Conference Coalescence, Richmond, Virginia, March 20-23. It is in conjunction with the NCECA Exhibition: LIMINAL SPACES. In this exhibition, Annie Boyer, Fait KU, and Clarissa Yeap explore ideas about life in the in-between spaces, between the present and the future, art and science, human and non-human. They will also be our jurors for the “Nature & Coalescence” Exhibition.
Coalescence, the 58th annual conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts takes place in Richmond, Virginia. A process repeated at every scale in nature, from sub-atomic particles and water droplets to binary stars and black holes, coalescence occurs when separate elements merge into a single body or group.
When coalescence occurs in nature even light years away, we are able to sense it through the energies released. Creative coalescence is a vibrant force in Richmond, Virginia’s cultural ecosystem, and its energies radiate throughout the region’s community centers, K-12, and higher education, and studios.
Coalescence is the power, presence, and innovation that occurs through our work with clay and communities. Coalescence will be an opportunity to share and learn about the changing ways we teach, learn, and create through clay. NCECA invites you to share stories, research, and creation of coalescence happening through your work in ceramic art.

Submission Details:
You will need an artist statement - 200 Word limit in first person to enter the shows.
- You do not have to create a portfolio site to enter the show.
- The way you fill out the form is how it will be shown on the labels, awards, and publicity.
- Use Capital Letters for the first letters of your name.
- Prices - DO NOT TYPE IN A COMMA. This produces the wrong price. ArtCall will add it automatically.
- Measurements - HEIGHT first, then Width then Depth (H x W x D).
2D IMAGE REQUIREMENTS
3 images of each piece are required, one of the art without frame, one with frame, and a close detail image (zoomed into a small section of interest). If the art is unframed, only 2 photos are required.
NOTE: if the work is framed, we must have the outside measurements of the frame (H x W x D). Please do not guess. If we do not have the measurements for the art and/or the framed art, your piece will not be considered to jury. Walls and backgrounds SHOULD NOT SHOW in photos. When taking the digital image please make sure the photo is not at an angle or crooked.
Hanging art must be wired so it will hang with our system. Art that is not wired will be automatically rejected. Check the wires on the back: Are they lose? Are they too high so the hanger will show? Do you have just one hook (sawtooth)? If so, you take the risk of your art falling off the wall.
3D IMAGE REQUIREMENTS
For each 3D, installation, or wearable art entry, submit 3 images: one overall front image, one overall rear or sideview image, and one detail image (zoomed into a small section of interest).
- Detail images must show an important aspect of
the art. Make sure that both the full-view and detailed images are oriented correctly.
Statement regarding the piece of art - The character limit is 300!! This is used for all publicity online and on labels. Spellcheck it as well as word count it!
- FYI -You can go back in and add/edit images and edit text until the call ends.
- Please double-check all information.
After entering, please go back and double check your information. Did you enter the required 2 or 3 photos? Is your price correct? Measurements? Is your statement complete?
VERY IMPORTANT: You can delete and change photos, and change text within each submission up until end-of-call. Do not delete an entire submission and then replace it with a new one--ArtCall will charge you for a new submission!
