FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Duane Cregger is having a studio sale for remaining paintings from ‘Crown: New Work 2022’ (a series of fairytale paintings and recent work from ‘The July Series.’
‘Crown’ is a series of fairy-tale paintings exploring the intersections of disappointment, prudence, childishness, and dark playfulness. The series is heavily texture with heavy mark making, bright and pastel tones. Most are large (24x36” and larger), but there are a few small works in cold wax on gesso board. View the catalog at https://www.duanecregger.com/NewWork2022.pdf .
’The July Series’ is a recent series of work that is a departure. This thought-provoking series uses words — some gold-leafed onto the canvas — and a childlike representational style to communicate personal experiences and the impact of childhood events on our psyches. See the partial catalog of the continuing series at https://www.duanecregger.com/TheJulySeries.pdf .
Starting Friday, March 17, these paintings will be offered at a 35% discount from the regular gallery price.

About Duane
Duane Cregger is a Virginia artist working in oils, acrylics, and mixed media. His work is a narrative of his rural-to-urban migration experiences. Through color, texture, and mark-making, he builds visual dialogues with multiple layers of paint, suggesting an accumulation of subconscious ideas and experiences.
He has won awards in various juried exhibitions, including the juried biennials at Roanoke College’s Olin Hall Galleries and William King Museum. His work is in corporate collections in the mid-Atlantic, in private collections across the United States, and in the Caribbean and Canada. He is a founding member of the Appalachian Spirit Artists Cooperative in Marion, Virginia, and has been twice appointed to serve on an advisory panel for the Virginia Commission for the Arts. He lives in Richmond, Virginia, and maintains a studio and gallery space at Crossroads Art Center. Studio visits are by appointment.
