Views of the James River winding gracefully through downtown Richmond have always been a mix of old and new. Skyscrapers rise alongside this strong, wide river, giving context to early American commerce and culture and also reflecting the vibrant city and recreation that exists on the river today.

Artist's Statement:

I am lucky to live in Virginia’s Northern Neck, where water, beaches, fields, farms and natural beauty surround me every day. Paintings are everywhere!  I have sketched and dabbled in paint since childhood, always finding great delight in color and line. Over the years I have enjoyed acrylic, oil and pastel workshops taught by talented artists in the greater Richmond area and beyond. My recent introduction to cold wax medium has opened a whole new world of possibilities! I love its texture, unconventional painting tools, mark making, and the tug and pull of layering.  After retiring and moving to White Stone, I decided that this was the time to pursue my love of painting in a focused and purposeful way. I am thankful to be part of the supportive and enthusiastic group of creative people I have found here!
