I utilized many types of non-traditional tools to paint the multiple layers that became the moose’s head, such as a meat tenderizer for the short horizontal and vertical line sets, pouncers dipped in two shades of paint to make dimensional circles, a doily as a makeshift “stencil” to paint the lace collar, credit cards to move paint in unique patterns, the handle end of a paintbrush to make circles, etc. The more free I am in the initial layers, the more depth I achieve in the final piece.
