Late Winter on the Pass
Acrylic, Livestock Marker, Oil Stick
36" x 36"
I was made aware of Livestock Markers through another artist who was using them in their art. I had been interested in them - they look and smell just like the oil paint sticks that I LOVE- it's like drawing with lipstick, or butter!
My husband is a "gentleman's farmer" who has a small herd of cows. He frequents Southern States often and finally saw some at our Goochland location. He bought the only colors that they had, Red, a mint green, and fluorescent pink. Of course, the one I experimented with first was the fluorescent pink - far from any color I usually use in my work.
He has since found me some blue- which has become a new fav! I can order on line but the hunt is fun!
They act almost like oil paint sticks (a mix of oil paint and wax) ... the livestock markers dry faster, are not as opaque, are $1.00 each verses $10.00 each. I feel they are appropriate for my work right now since most of my work includes livestock!
