It feeds the soul. From the start of each painting, I strive to capture the essence of the subject through a process of discovery combining curiosity, analysis, and intuition. Compelling paintings are founded on the visual artist's unique work flow -- eye, brain, heart and hand. Art fosters interconnections capable of touching the deepest parts of a human being. Creating art that nurtures myself and the emotional well-being of others is at the core of my art practice.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0780/8101/files/Shaw_Linda_MePint_amp_MeSmoke_Oil_900_Betterpic.jpg?v=1783603160
hennessy-tom-title-dandelion-detail
Hennessy, Tom title: Dandelion Detail

Tom Hennessy

Dandelion Detail

16 x 24", framed to 22 x 30 x 1.5"

Digital Photography

$350

I am fascinated by the tiny details in nature that we don't take the time to see. My approach to photography is very much influenced by writers, poets and painters, and I especially love the work of Georgia O’Keefe and Edward Weston. I want the beauty of the natural world to be captured in my photos and I want to show the details that we easily overlook in daily life. It is common to see flowers in a garden, and there is much to admire in a well laid out garden. But, to me, the essence is in often in the details of the individual flowers - the slowly opening petals of a rose; the colors and flair of a calla lily blossom; the dewdrops on the petals of a dahlia. I married my college sweetheart, Bonnie, and moved to Richmond, Virginia where I took a hiatus from art, joined the corporate world and focused on helping raise two phenomenal children.
