"Forms of Grief" is part of a series relating to the loss of my mother. In it, I explore objects that relate to her life in some way. The structure of the pinecone itself was a fascinating exploration of shadow and texture. 

 

Artist Statement

The act of painting absorbs me. I enjoy the physicality of making art, the simple act of brushing paint onto a canvas, from broad strokes to the smallest detail. Every painting is an opportunity to learn and experiment.
