Mary Nell Jackson
During her painting process, Mary Nell Jackson uses techniques such as layering, blending, scraping and sanding. She makes these techniques intertwine with one another to give a depth that is unexpended to the viewer. After painting the skeleton of a painting, she builds with oils, acrylics, charcoal, and sometimes gold leaf foil. She breaks down pieces of a painting by taking away certain layers of paint, introducing fresh brushstrokes and finally uncovering areas that were once hidden. Mary Nell’s hope is that the audience will be intrigued as they view her paintings and interpret what they see in the mystery of her work.
