In this piece I had started with a straight piece of twine. With each plant structure added the piece created labyrinths that closely mimic the amazon river in is ever changing state.

Artist's Statement:

Richard Harding's work as a fiber artist is a reflection of his deep-rooted connection to the natural world and his fascination with indigenous cultures. Based in Ashland VA, he skillfully utilizes techniques found in basketry, incorporating chording sewn in concentric circles to create intricate and organic forms. Drawing inspiration from cultural parallels, particularly the interplay between basketry and pottery, Harding's creations are a fusion of tradition and contemporary expression.
