Modern Venus is a take on modern love. The current culture tells their stories through tattoos on there bodies. The tattoos tell the story of Venus and her birth, her tumultuous love affairs, and the meaning of love.

Artist Statement:

I, Blair Barbour, am here to take you on a wild ride through the whimsical world of collage art. With a dash of humor, I create artworks that blend unexpected elements to ignite your imagination. My passion for collage and subject matter comes from a deep desire to challenge the norms and break free from the ordinary. I love to gather bits and pieces from handmade papers, vintage books, and modern wallpaper to rearrange them into new storylines. Through the clever juxtaposition of images, I aim to infuse my artworks with a sense of lightness, joy, and sometimes a touch of irony. I believe that laughter is a powerful tool that can help us navigate the complexities of life, and so I use humor as a way to connect with viewers and invite them to see the world from a fresh perspective. My work literally and metaphorically has many layers and is a celebration of the absurd and the delightful. Each work will spark conversation and is a reminder that sometimes, laughter is the best answer.
