A guingette is an open-air café or dance hall that originated in the 17th century in France. The particular gathering in this piece was observed recently along the river Vienne in Chinon, France where locals were enjoying themselves with some lively swing dancing.

Artist Statement:

Normally a left brain person by day, I transform into a right brain person during the evenings and weekends when I translate past memories and experiences into color. I don’t strive for realism in my work as straight lines become non-linear and colors become amplified and exaggerated. For me, the vividness of bright hues, tints, and shades, using a variety of mediums, brings life to things that are all too often unobserved and taken for granted.
