Yuri Greshenko was born in 1954 in the Fergan Valley of Uzbekistan. When he was 10 years old, his family moved to the Crimea where he was accepted to Simferopolskoya College of Art in 1969. In 1972, when he had completed his studies at the College, he was accepted to the famous Surikov Institute in Moscow. He finished in 1978 under the direction of the "Honored Artist of USSR", T. Salakhov. From 1980 to 1982, he completed his post-graduate work under Professor Salakhov. He became a teacher at the Surikov Institute in 1982. He worked in Norway in 1994 on a scholarship from the "Total" foundation and participated in exhibitions throughout the country.
