Wendy Humble

Hello,

I'M WENDY HUMBLE

I am a travel  and documentary photographer with a great love for many styles of image making. Photography has been a life long passion that has taught me to slow down, see and practice the art of being present.  In my travels around the globe,  it has brought me the best and deepest connections within a broad net of diverse  people, cultures and places.   One of my favorites Henri Cartier Bresson, said, among many amazing quotable things:  "It's an illusion that photos are made with the camera...they are made with the eye, heart and head."  That perfectly sums up how finding and creating images feels to me.

I have always loved following great photography but I became more focused to learn in  2013 when I took my first trip to Cuba, one of several to come, after a photographic workshop  with Lorne Resnick, a great teacher and future mentor.  After my last trip to the island in 2016 I was asked to be the featured artist at Crossroads Art Gallery here in Richmond, Virginia where I'm based.  My most recent documentary project was shooting the 2020 Summer of protests.  A book is on the horizon.  Since then, my images have been featured in RVAMag digital, the Valentine Museum, the Sea of Change Foundation, as a freelance photojournalist with VPM, (Virginia's Home for Public Media)  and in the broadcast documentary telling the story of the downing of the monuments: "Why This Moment".

Thank you for checking out some of  my favorite images from my travels, I will be sharing ongoing personal projects for purchase too.   Please visit www.wendyhumble.com and follow me on IG at @wendyhumblephoto where I post new images weekly.   Any can be added to this site for fulfillment.
