The Lighthouse Keeper
Photography (Metal in Black Float Frame with Silver Accents)
17" x 24"
This photograph of an ornamental lighthouse on Boca Chita Key in Biscayne National Park, Florida was made in near-complete darkness. A small tea light was used to illuminate the middle window while a larger light illuminated the doorway. The exterior of the lighthouse was light painted with a flashlight. Just as I was about to move onto another subject, I realized that the photograph would be enhanced by having a person stand in the doorway. Therefore, I asked a fellow photographer to serve as the model. Because the exposure was long (30 seconds), he had to stand perfectly still. The smooth texture of the clouds resulted from the long exposure.
