Most people explore a mountain stream from the bottom. But imagine coming over a ridge and finding your self at the top of the birth of a mountain stream.
Artist Statement:
My first painting was when I was twelve. It was a farm scene with a conical and comical snow covered Jay Peak in the distance. In high school I got better by painting small seascapes to endear myself to
the parents of the girls i dated. I also won small rewards at shows, which were always welcomed.
I did not paint much in college, but I did challenge myself beyond the seascapes to paint a life size portrait of myself and my then girlfriend. I painted it on gesso covered masonite using only black and white enamel and when we broke up I took a circular saw to
it and both halves disappeared. It may have been my best painting.
In later life i was drawn to boats in harbors on Hatteras Island; and landscapes, particularly the rural beauty of Rappahannock County, where my wife was raised.
During this period 2007-2009 i painted 65 paintings. Sold some, gave some to friends and some just disappeared. Those that are left are on the walls of my condo, serving as a shrine to my ego.
I hope that someone somewhere is enjoying a Danny B painting.
