Acrylic and Mixed Media on Canvas
18 x 18 x 1.5"
This intuitive painting began with a few random marks as I cleaned my palette on a blank canvas. I saw the energy of water, and somehow, the neighbor's cat who has adopted the chairs on our patio for her afternoon naps came in to float on a dreamy, comfy chair and ride the waves of the painting.
These two intuitive paintings are unusual for me in that they are somewhat figurative instead of strictly abstract. Each one was unknowingly begun by making a few random marks as I cleaned my palette on blank canvases. These were set aside for several months, then pulled out and examined closely. I looked for anything - a shape, a color, a line - that might suggest the start of something new. I rotated them and nurtured them along until the shape of a gray rabbit appeared in one. He ultimately became a white rabbit. The energy of water and the neighbor's cat who has adopted the chairs on our patio for her afternoon naps came alive on the other. I cannot explain them beyond sharing their evolution, which is what I love about the creative process!
