Southern Magnolia Bowl
Southern Magnolia Wood with Clear Urethane and Artist Acrylic Paint
6"H x 9" D
$745
This footed bowl was turned and carved from a piece of southern magnolia wood. Templates were created from actual magnolia leaves and they were transfered and carved on the bowl. The bottom was textured and painted with artist acrylic paints using the dry brush technique.
Artist's Statement:
I primarily create lathe turned hollow and open forms in wood from native Virginia trees. I prefer to work with green wood and often let the changing shape of the wood as it dries influence how the final work appears. The design of many of my pieces has been influenced by the numerous flowers that grow in our gardens. I like to embellish my work with various carving techniques, painting and wood burning.
