Change or Die’ is one of the first paintings in The July Series, a body of work that is naïve in its representational style but complicated and ambiguous in its messaging. The style includes words and phrases in a stream-of-consciousness approach to the psyche. Words come, images follow. Childlike renderings and bright colors are in tension with some of the decidedly dark messaging. Not for everyone.

Artist Statement
DUANE CREGGER is an artist working in oils and mixed media. His work is a narrative of his rural-to-urban migration experiences. Through color, texture, and mark-making, he builds visual dialogue with layers of paint, suggesting an accumulation of subconscious events.
