Season in the Garden 1
Thrown, Altered and Hand-Built Porcelain with Glaze and Underglaze
16.5”H x 8”W x 6.5”D
This textured sculptural ceramic form was inspired by milkweed plants, with a focus on the dried pod forms, seeds and leaves. By abstracting and repeating the forms, I highlight the unexpected beauty of this native plant and celebrate its significance.
My ceramic sculptures reference water availability, human environmental impact, microscopic internal plant structures and native plants. My work highlights what is not visible or often overlooked in nature and explores our relationship with the environment. I use wheel-thrown porcelain forms, which I alter to create asymmetrical sculptures and softly curved wall-hung pieces.
