Even more, I try to capture the feeling associated with those views. My work is not merely documentation; it is about passage. It is about impressions. It is about the moment. It is about focus. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe focus may not be about 'finishing' an image. It may also be about what to leave unfinished--How much can be said with how little.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003ci\u003eAlla prima, au premier coup\u003c\/i\u003e—all at once, first strike. My best work has always been about this process. Whether outside or in the studio, once I’ve completed my thoughts and worked out my plan, I work until the painting is done, in a very direct manner, usually without layers.
