Mountains & Field

Oaxaca, Mexico is a lot like the American Southwest, visually at least. It is a wonderful place to paint. We have spent the last 12 or so winters there … January & February. The weather is perfect then (unlike in Richmond) – no rain, clear air, and at 6,000’ elevation, the temperature is excellent. Most of these paintings were made early this year, inspired by the long walk we take each morning up into the Benito Juarez National Forest. The sun is rising; the light is stunning. (I am wondering whether we will be able to return this coming January. It’s not looking good!)
The place where we stay (Casa Raab) is also a dog rescue facility, a non-profit, certified 501(c)(3) organization. 70% of my earnings from any sale goes directly to support that rescue operation.
