I've always been inspired by Frida's art and story. As a fellow Mexican artist I wanted to capture her spirit and essence in this painting.
Artist's Statement:
I believe life is short. We take each fleeting moment for granted. Sometimes fear makes us close our eyes and we miss opportunities in our daily life to enjoy it. My art is bold and colorful reflecting the idea that life should be celebrated. In Mexico Dia De Los Muertos is a celebration of life not death. We celebrate the life of our loved ones who have passed to better life in heaven. I hope my art can show the beauty of our short life and hope for a greater afterlife with God.
I’m a self taught artist who’s been painting since childhood. I was born in Chihuahua Mexico and was raised in California but now reside in Virginia. My work is inspired by what I have experienced through my culture and religious beliefs.
