The lighting on this piece is the 2nd subject. I love watching the faces of people as they view this artwork. The cat appears out of the shadows and is often overlooked on first glance. The cat is not only stalking the mouse, but the viewer, as well.

Artist Statement:

Where life exists, stories happen. Whether its ants lining up to collect food, a gunsmith working his trade, or the dance of the snowy egret looking for lunch, the act of living tells a story. Through these photos, I will share glimpses of different lives from all perspectives, from creatures great and small. With each picture, we can see a glimpse into the life of another. With each glimpse, we can better envision the different stories of our world.  One story alone does not compose the book of life; I hope that through my collection, I can record more chapters of that book for you to read, as you see All Stories Great and Small.  have been doing fine art photography for 27 years. I've had my work published on NationalGeographic.com and in The Virginia Wildlife Magazine. I'm a Virginia Master Naturalist. I've been known to sit in the same spot for days to capture just the perfect moment, and I want to bring those moments to everyone, so we can share and delight in discoveries. I hope that we can marvel together at the little details of the world and the uniqueness that each living creature brings us!
