In my journey of painting, I am always looking for new challenges and learning opportunities. This one struck me while preparing 'breakfast for dinner' night, as I watched the movement of the bubbles in my husband's egg. Is that something that can be presented in paint? Yes!
Artist Statement:
When I paint, everything else seems to fade out, like tunnel vision, or being in a bubble. One could say, it's my meditation. My focus is typically on my oil paintings, in a never-ending effort to loosen up like the post-impressionists, yet still finding myself zoning in until my likeness is just right. I have many sources of inspiration, from simple still life set-ups at home, living landscapes when I am working en plein air (or photos/sketches when I just don't have time to paint a scene), all the way to portraits of humans and creatures alike. My goal is to bring my viewer to that place I am depicting with my strokes. When I am not painting or sketching, I am chasing around children and pets and indulging in my newest hobby of linocut printing.
