I like to capture the messiness in nature by using layers of color and strokes that literally go all over the place.
Probably the biggest tool I use is the ability to not control the brush and the strokes. I consistently turn my canvas - yes the actual canvas upside down and I even don’t look at what I am doing sometimes the capture the randomness I see in nature. I adore imperfection. Painting trees feels natural to me, their connection and communication as individual structures and as a whole in a forest, much like people and communities.
