This is the painting of a mountain Stream in Wytheville, VA last October. The sounds of the stream and the colors of the leaves made the place feel magical. I spent a blissful hour there sketching and photographing the scene. In this painting I captured the peaceful calm I felt while there.

Artist's Statement: 

I am passionate about the beauty of nature. It feeds my soul. I’m happiest outside in nature painting, kayaking, or hiking. My acrylic paintings are an expression of my connection to the places I paint. In 2008, I moved to the US Virgin Islands where I painted, snorkeled, kayaked, sailed, and fire danced for nine years. Living in the bright light of the tropics feed my obsession with color. Back in Virginia in my studio in Reedville, I am again surrounded by inspiring landscapes. In my paintings I use my love of color to express the beauty I see around me. I paint scenes from the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and the nearby rural farming communities. I am always pushing to find my creative voice and expressing it pudgy with paint.
