Artist Statement:
Val Vaniakin is a multimedia artist from Tashkent, Uzbekistan (former USSR). One of the great ancient cities of the Orient, Tashkent is known for its unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures. This fusion shapes Val’s distinctive artistic perspective, which comes to life through his watercolor and oil paintings.
As a former solo guitarist, Val developed a deep appreciation for the powerful exchange of energy between himself and his audience—an improvisational dialogue that fueled his creativity. This passion for raw, spontaneous expression led him to explore wet-on-wet watercolor painting, a medium that allows him to capture emotion in a fleeting moment, much like music. Meanwhile, oil painting provides him with a more deliberate, immersive process, where his feelings and energy are concentrated into a single masterpiece.
Through every brushstroke, Val seeks to transform his passions into visual form, creating works that evoke emotion and forge a connection between the artwork and the viewer. His paintings are not just compositions but experiences—reflections of his artistic journey that invite the audience to feel the same depth of sensations that inspire him.
