Nature's Light - #2
Hand Printed Etching on Rives BFK
12 x 11 x .2", framed to 18 x 17 x 1"
The universal play and shift of light through trees are reflected here - Simultaneous printing allowing the inks to naturally interact (or not) on the inked plate.
Recognizing the beauty surrounding us, I am concerned about the care we show towards our natural environment. I explore the world via layers, interactions, and juxtapositions, visually and conceptually. These images result by creating multiple levels and textures on a zinc plate by using various strengths of acid baths and proof-printed throughout the process. The plates are inked by hand, simultaneously using four different inks ranging in viscosities. The science of nature repeats its mystery and beauty in these prints as each ink color applied reacts to the one before, and also with the varied surface levels of the zinc plate. Sometimes I am surprised by the natural results. :) You can view more images created with simultaneous printing exhibited on my gallery wall in Building 2.
