PAINTING  |  ABSTRACT + NON-OBJECTIVE

Duane Cregger is a Virginia artist working in oils, acrylics, and mixed media. His work is a narrative of life in the mountains of Virginia, a journal of his rural-to-urban-to-rural migration, and a record of the discovery of a heritage rooted in Appalachia. Through color, texture, and mark-making, he creates a visual dialogue, the multiple layers of paint suggesting an accumulation of subconscious ideas and past experiences peering through.

His work is in corporate collections in the mid-Atlantic, in private collections across the United States, and in the Caribbean and Canada. He is a founding member of the Appalachian Spirit Artists Cooperative in Marion, Virginia, and has been twice appointed to serve on an advisory panel for the Virginia Commission for the Arts.
