Kim Hall

Painting has been a wonderful journey for me.  Over the years my style has developed into a vibrant palette with loose and painterly brushstrokes.  This style seemed to be an easy fit for still lifes, interiors and figure studies.  For some reason I didn't have any problem taking artistic license with the subjects I was painting.  I decided to try pleine air painting, and I was completely overwhelmed. I felt obligated to paint the landscape exactly as I saw it in nature.  Gradually I was able to start simplifying and editing what I saw in the landscape  and and was able to introduce more of my own sense of color and playfulness.  Now I can't believe I wasted all of those years not painting outdoors, I'm hooked.  I now take my painting gear with me everywhere I go, and I am always looking for new opportunities and vistas to paint.
