The warm, breezy afternoon sent the flowers in the garden nodding and swaying. The sounds of birds led me to the birdbath, where I watched a whole flock splashing and playing in the water. My presence prompted most to fly, except for these two who weren't giving up their spa day!

Artist's Statement:

Elise Iglio is a pen and ink artist from Central Virginia. Working with fine liners and dip pens, Elise’s art hints at the sacred healing power of nature that can be felt in our everyday experiences. Inspired by the charismatic line work of artists such as Franklin Booth and Arthur Rackham, she focuses on producing extremely detailed pen drawings that compel the viewer to look deep into the picture. Elise took up art later in life, and as a self-taught artist is committed to continuously advancing her skills through practice and study. She is currently working on landscapes that foster a sense of recognition, happy memories and belonging. Elise’s work has been accepted into and won awards in gallery shows across the state.
