I found this peony one morning hiding out in the early sun in our flower garden, getting ready to open. I immediately took a picture. I had no choice! I found the richness of the red pedals complementing the greens of the leaves so inspiring that I knew this would be my next painting. Being a perfectionist in my style of painting, I knew I could bring forth this lovely flower that seems to just hang in space, floating and holding back a fantastical mystery inside, waiting for the grand opening to begin.
