Dale Chihuly's Red Reeds has been an endless source of inspiration for me.  My challenge is to find new ways to portray this art.  The process is consistently enjoyable and I relish the challenge every time I paint in the VMFA Sculpture Garden.  I am primarily a plein air painter, although occasionally I paint abstracts.  My medium of choice is alkyd paint, which is a quick drying oil paint. 

 

Artist Statement: 

My focus is plein air painting and my favorite location is the VMFA Sculpture Garden.  Color, changing light and imagination make for an endless variety of results in my paintings.  During my years of painting here I have painted most of the pieces of sculpture at least twice.  My most popular subject is Dale Chihuly's Red Reeds.  My work is on display and for sale every year in the Fan Art Stroll.
