Bobby Wiltshire

Bobby Wiltshire is a Richmond, Virginia, native who, until recently, was the proud founder and owner of Carousel Signs & Designs (established in Richmond in 1976 and eventually moved to Rockville, Virginia). He retired in January 2016, and a son-in-law and two of his children now own and operate the business.

Bobby’s oldest daughter presented him with a watercolor set for Christmas many years ago, and he loved the medium. Previously, he drew with pencil, painted with acrylics, and used One-Shot sign painter’s paint to add artwork to signs. He started receiving instruction from Shelly Bechtel Shepherd at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, previously the Hand Workshop. Once a year, for the last 17 years, he has attended the Nimrod Artists Retreat in Bath County, Virginia, where he finds inspiration and collaborates with other artists. His subjects consist mainly of rural scenes and the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where he and his wife Janet recently settled.

Winner of several awards, Bobby currently displays some of his artwork at the Dare County Arts Council in Manteo, North Carolina, and at Crossroads Art Center in Richmond.
