CultureWorks Calling All Artists!

Join CultureWorks in Celebrating A Decade of Championing Arts and Culture Every Day.

Artists are asked to submit concepts for a painting inspired by the Arts and Culture Scene in our Community (including Richmond, Petersburg and Ashland). From the entries a juried panel will select one artist to create the actual piece of art (along with a $500 award), which will then be raffled through CultureWorks in celebration of the 10^th anniversary. An image of artwork will be used in all promotional materials for the 10th anniversary celebration, while the painting itself will be displayed in several galleries to encourage raffle sales during the months leading up to April.

For this proposal, it's not necessary to complete the final work, but sketches/studies are encouraged. Feel free to elaborate in the narrative portion of the entry form. The final painting can be no larger than 36" X 36".

Image Format Title: You MUST name each image that you send us in the following format:  Your name_artwork name_size_media.jpg
For example, for a piece of my artwork it might read as follows:
GregYoungs_MyCat_11x14_oil.jpg

Preparing Digital Files: Generate a digital file of each image at a resolution of 300 dpi, with the longest dimension being no more than 6".  Save the file in JPG format, at the maximum quality level. 

Artists Notified By: Friday, November 8

Award: The selected artist will be given $500 up front. The final sale price will be split 50% to the artist and 50% as a donation to CultureWorks, up to $5000. Any proceeds over $5000 will be donated directly to Cultureworks.

Artwork delivered Artist to have finished art piece delivered to CultureWorks by Monday, January 6, 2020

Raffle Drawing Date: April 2020

Liability and Agreement: CultureWorks will accept only original work by the artist, handcrafted work, and photography. CW reserves the right to refuse work and limit the number of submitted items per artist to three. Signing the entry form or submitting entries online denotes agreement to the terms and conditions as stated in the entry information.
