Diane Wilkin

Wilkin is a Central Virginia artist who uses a variety of media to explore the natural landscape. She began her artistic practice studying photography and printmaking at UVA, followed by a career in education - teaching fine art, fine craft and photography to high school students in Pennsylvania. She returns to Virginia, still a learner, ready to explore new methods of art making.
Inspired by juxtapositions, patterns, and also the ‘chaos’ in nature, Wilkin works with various media to record her impressions - primarily pastels - soft/dry sticks for drawing and wet clay for monoprints. “What I don’t see (the negative space) often intrigues
me more than the objects themselves. I continue to explore new techniques and materials. I love working large so I can better reflect the grandeur around us.”
