Lighthouse Fantasy 2

Art was a key factor in my orientation to life. As a child my grandmother gave me old rolls of wallpaper on which I drew scenes from family trips. I was inspired by Saturday programs at the Cincinnati Art Museum, and summer programs at the University of Cincinnati. A grandfather and an uncle had careers in the greeting card industry.

So, I have always done art! I formalized that after retirement by forming Watermedia Creations and More! Inc to produce and market my art. My focus then was primarily nautical, featuring my ShapeScape paintings, and later my Colorful Creations. I have taught workshops on “Turning Up the Color.” I was a resident artist at Art Works for five years, then had a working studio at Crossroads when it first opened.

In my work I try to tap into the emotive value of color resident within my subjects. I invite the viewer into my perspective through a balance of color, detail, and composition. My current work explores the interaction of people with their environment in a wide range of settings. Although I work in several mediums, my primary format today is acrylic on canvas

I am excited to return to Crossroads Art Center and will open a new display space on July 1st
