Jeremy Amaral

Wood Sculptor | Narrative Figurative Artist
Amaral is a sculptor specializing in large scale, hand carved cedar figures that integrate elements of folklore, fantasy, and narrative form. Each work begins as a raw log and is shaped using chainsaws and traditional carving tools, followed by detailed hand finishing and painting to define character, expression, and presence.
He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design from the State University of New York at New Paltz. His formal training in design informs the balance, proportion, and compositional strength evident in his sculptural work, while his subject matter reflects a long standing engagement with storytelling and symbolic form.
Amaral’s sculptures exist at the intersection of nature and imagination. Drawing from mythic and storybook traditions, he creates figures that feel both archetypal and intimately familiar. The natural grain, movement, and structural characteristics of the wood remain visible, reinforcing material authenticity and preserving the inherent life of the tree within each piece.
Central to Amaral’s practice is the intention to evoke an emotional response grounded in warmth, familiarity, and quiet well being. His work invites viewers to reconnect with moments of joy, comfort, or meaningful memory. The figures are conceived not simply as objects, but as enduring presences within a space, pieces that offer a sense of companionship and subtle reassurance over time.
Each sculpture is one of a kind and cannot be replicated. Through disciplined craftsmanship and measured emotional resonance, Amaral’s work unites structural integrity with narrative depth, resulting in forms that are both visually compelling and deeply human.
