Rain Is Water

My grandson and I decided to visit Gloucester, Virginia on a cloudy day and then headed to Mobjack Bay to take in the view. The rain was down to a drizzle, so I did a quick sketch of the scene. Looking at the sky with the parting clouds and vast bay, Dashiell’s intuitive comment was, “rain is water”.
Artist's Statement:
As an artist my work leans towards figurative art, and in some cases, it can be categorized as abstract realism or impressionism. I attribute this to my spontaneous depiction of the subject matter that to the passing eyes may only record a blur. My objective is to capture these fleeting moments for others to witness and enjoy.
I believe art should not only be decorative but also tell a story…to educate and stimulate the viewer. The spectator should never stop learning with unexpected wonder and enjoyment.
