Karen Eide
Karen’s work explores the boundaries between the recognizable and the abstract. She merges elements that are real, imagined, dreamed, and remembered—composing layered, meditative paintings that feel untethered to time or place. Her work offers a quiet pause—a space where mystery, memory, and possibility unfold The result is a visual language that feels both grounded and ethereal—familiar, mysterious, and quietly hopeful.
Nature serves as a recurring thread throughout her work. Drawing from a personal iconography of flora and fauna, Karen places these elements in liminal, abstracted environments that act as visual poetry. Her daily life on a farm and longtime meditation practice nurture an intuitive, process-driven approach. She works in cycles with several different mediums—encaustic, oil and cold wax, or acrylic—each incorporating mixed media such as hand-painted collage paper, graphite, ink, crayon, and pastels.
