Richmond Raceway History

Strawberry Hill in Richmond, VA, was a 460-acre farm off Laburnum Avenue that became the long-time home of the State Fair of Virginia and later the Richmond Raceway. The site hosted the fair from 1946 until 2009, when the operation moved to Caroline County

The Old Dominion Building where the art exhibit will be held was built in 1946 on the site of the State Fair, this structure was designed by architect William Lawrence Bottomley and remains a feature of the Raceway Complex.

Many might remember fondly the Strawberry Hill Steeplechase Races.
