Floating Bubbles Transom

10 x 62 x .5"

Stained Glass

$2200

A transom window where one long panel flows across the mullions. Mountain ridges in grey, with iridized glass creating subtle shades of rose & sage. Floating bubbles on a breeze along the green path are made of jewels & fused glass. Textured glass catches light & changes through the day. A design that balances serenity with some whimsy!

Artist's Statement:

As a Stained-Glass artist for 20+ years and an Interior Designer (for more than that), I typically use architectural references, styles, principles & elements of design in my work. I'm a spiritual person, a yoga practitioner, an avid golfer, and a lover of cats! You will occasionally see some of those elements in my work. After all art should reflect life and life's passions. A few common themes are circles, just love the symmetry and the all-encompassing whole. I also like to play with the use of positive & negative space - you'll find that most of my pieces have some areas with no glass and things are suspended in those spaces. Lastly, I started quite a few years ago, taking an advanced stained-glass class at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond - there I learned to experiment with various techniques in glass. You'll find sandblasting, etching, glass painting, slumping, fusing and even some special sawing (like holes in the middle of the glass). I currently live in Chesterfield, VA with my husband Robert, who incidentally is the one who encouraged me to take my first stained-glass class. We share our home with our two wonderful rescue kitties Zippy & Jelly, she is featured in one of my stained-glass pieces "Library Cat Through a Window."
