Inspired by a photograph taken in my first apartment, this work reflects the quiet shock of solitude. Saturated hues press against a composed figure whose cool stillness resists absorption, exploring the fragile boundary between environment and self and the defiance of remaining intact

Artist Statement:

I am a portrait artist drawn to the quiet intensity of the human face. I work primarily in oil, often exploring black and white tones to strip away distraction and focus on light, shadow, and emotion. For me, painting is an act of observation and translation — not just capturing how someone looks, but how they feel.
I am fascinated by the subtle shifts in expression: the tension in a brow, the softness around the mouth, the depth in someone’s eyes. These small details tell stories that words often cannot. My process is intuitive and layered. I build slowly, allowing the painting to evolve, trusting each stage even when it feels uncertain.
As an artist, I value honesty over perfection. I believe vulnerability creates connection — both between artist and subject, and between artwork and viewer. Whether I am painting someone I love or a commissioned portrait, my goal is the same: to create work that feels alive, intimate, and timeless.
Painting is how I process the world. It is both discipline and meditation, structure and freedom. Through portraiture, I seek to preserve presence — a moment, a feeling, a soul suspended in paint.
