My name is Micqaela Jones. Thank you for visiting my web site. I have spent the last 18 years traveling and selling art with my husband Alex and our children. It has been a privilege and a real adventure!   Let me tell you a little about myself.

I am an enrolled member of the Temoak Tribe of Western Shoshone. I grew up on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation of the Shoshone and Paiute Nations located 100 miles northeast of Elko, Nevada on the Idaho border. My youth was filled with rich visual experiences, days spent hunting, fishing and enjoying the beauty of Nevada's outdoors with my sister and two brothers . My Dad, also a painter, and  Mom, made sure we learned how to work hard and play hard.  Our  family moved to Elko, Nevada when I was 13. There I attended school and began working for my Dad's construction. The whole family was involved, going to jobs with Dad and helping out. At that point in my life an art career was the last thing I thought I would have.

At 18, I met my soon to be husband  Alex. We were married 2 years later and moved to Santa Cruz California.  We have spent time living and working in Mexico, Nevada and Utah. It was in Utah that I began painting seriously.  I was given an opportunity to show my art through a Gallery owner named Rod Erwin. He sold several pieces for me and my career and life quickly changed.

In 2002 I began showing my art at various shows around the country. Some of the events I've participated in over the years include, the Santa Fe Indian Market,  Eiteljorg Museum Indian art Market,  Autry Museum Los Angeles, Cherokee Art Market, Red Earth Market as well as several Museum Shows and solo exhibits.

Today as always, I continue to work on new ideas, new paintings and new techniques. My work has evolved into an intertwining of my Shoshone culture along with contemporary expressions, resulting in colorful vivid paintings.  I hope you enjoy looking at my art as much as I enjoy creating it!
