September 2024 CAC All Media Juried Show Call for Entries

Crossroads Art Center is excited to announce an online call for entries for the September 2024 Exhibition. This is a juried show. There is no theme for this exhibit. Work that has been accepted into a juried show at the art center previously may not be entered into a juried show again. Entry fee is $15 per submission for the general public (with a limit of three submissions) and for New or Renewing Gallery Members the cost will be $12 per submission. In addition, Gallery Members may receive a fourth entry for free: use Code: 4thFREE

If an artist is not a member and wishes to participate, they may join at the time of entry.

Commission on sales is 30%.

The gallery will accept only original work created by the artist. No reproductions or giclee prints will be accepted, unless approved by the owner, Jenni Kirby (See details below). The gallery reserves the right to refuse work. Work that is to hang on the wall (and all 2-D work), must be wired. NO sawtooth hangers. If work is not wired, it will not be accepted into the show.

All work must be for sale. All work must remain on display until the END OF THE EXHIBITION. Artists may not remove work early.

Due to a limitation in space only the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Winners in 2D, 3D and Photography will be shown Live for the September AMS

Juried Notification: Saturday, August 31, 2024 by end of day via email

Drop off of juried-in art for show – Thursday, September 12 – Saturday, September 14, 2024, BEFORE NOON!

Exhibition Opening: Friday, September 20, 2024, 5pm – 8pm
Exhibition End Date: Sunday, November 3, 2024, 4pm

Unsold pieces should be picked up Tuesday, November 5, 2024 during normal business hours, 10am - 5pm.

Before submitting artwork, please read and be sure you understand thoroughly procedures and expectations for participating in our 2024 juried all-media shows (AMS).

Important Information

• There is no theme for the show.
• All work submitted must be for sale.

Works where  the art process IS the printed process, i.e., etching, monoprint, silkscreen, lithograph, etc., or where the printed digital images is created by the artist with a computer program such as Procreate, Photoshop, etc. ARE permitted.

• All work must remain on display until the end of the exhibition (unless sold). Artists may not remove artwork for exhibition early.

Submission Details:

• Your name should have the FIRST LETTER of each name capitalized: Jonathan Doe.

• The first time you register, you need an artist statement - 200 word limit in first person. It is a statement about all of your work, in general. Why and what and how you do what you do.

• You must enter verbiage regarding the individual piece of art - The character limit is 300, including spaces (You will be cut off)!!  It is about the specific work of art.

• You do not have to create a portfolio site to enter the show.

• Prices - DO NOT TYPE IN A COMMA. This produces the wrong price ($2, instead of $2,500). ArtCall will add the comma automatically

• Measurements - HEIGHT first, then Width then Depth (H x W x D), inches at the end.   Ex: 8 x 10",  6 x 8 x 12"

• All this information is used online and on wall labels, awards, and publicity. Use Spellcheck as well as word count! 

• After submitting, please log back in and double check your information. Did you enter the required 2 or 3 photos? Is your price correct? Measurements? Is your statement complete? Too long?

• FYI - You can go back in and add/edit images and edit text until the call ends.

• VERY IMPORTANT: You can delete and change photos and change text within each submission up until end-of-call. Do not delete an entire submission and then replace it with a new one--ArtCall will charge you for a new submission!

2D IMAGE REQUIREMENTS

3 images of each piece are required, one of the art without frame, one with frame, and a close detail image (zoomed into a small section of interest). If the art is unframed, only 2 photos are required.

NOTE: if the work is framed, we must have the outside measurements of the frame (H x W x D). Please do not guess. If we do not have the measurements for the art and/or the framed art, your piece will not be considered to jury. Walls and backgrounds SHOULD NOT SHOW in photos. When taking the digital image please make sure the photo is not at an angle or crooked.

3D IMAGE REQUIREMENTS

For each 3D, installation, or wearable art entry, submit 3 images: one overall front image, one overall rear or sideview image, and one detail image (zoomed into a small section of interest).

Detail images must show an important aspect of the art. Make sure that both the full-view and detail images are oriented correctly.

Crossroads Art Center’s AMS are open to mid-Atlantic artists through a bimonthly call for entries, and cash prizes are awarded for the winners. Each show is juried by a prominent art professional from the community (a gallery director, curator, museum official, arts professor, or accomplished artist). Cash awards are given for 1st $100, 2nd $75, and 3rd $50 place winners.
