Chicago's 1988 music video "Look Away" hooked me with its dramatic lyrics and repeated use of vibrant pink and deep purple worn by the women who broke hearts. Pink often represents sweet romance in contrast to purple's seldom seen negative side of power and luxurious unattainability. My painting is a nod to this 80s musical gem.

Artist's Statement:

Many of my abstract paintings feature fun and stylish colors celebrating all I love in life. As a child of the 80s, I am inspired by its toys, cartoons, fashion accessories, school supplies, stickers, music, movies, and so much more, many of which come from my personal retro collection. I also draw inspiration from my trips to Disney World, including its characters and sights. My medium of choice is acrylic paint and I have enjoyed abstract painting since 2003 with a love for the visual arts since childhood.
